Andrea van de Loo
About this listen
Born during WWII in the Netherlands, Andrea van de Loo experienced a traumatic childhood, with her father’s past as a member of the Nazi SS casting a long shadow over her life. Despite these challenges, she embarked on an inspirational journey toward healing and self-discovery. Her search for self took her across the globe, where she found solace, purpose, and community.
Encompassing eighty years of the author’s life, The Pressing Stones guides listeners through a deeply intimate and emotional journey, exploring family, relationships, sexuality, spirituality, motherhood, psychedelic therapy, addiction recovery, and the generational impacts of war. It also presents a personal portrait of life in Auroville, the “City of Dawn,” dedicated to the spiritual visions of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother.
This poignant portrayal of one woman’s courage and determination to follow her inner guidance, and overcome her childhood trauma, is a testament to the power of consciousness and the human spirit, inspiring listeners to find their own paths toward healing and fulfillment. Andrea’s story illustrates how freedom, joy, peace of mind, and happiness are possible, as we face our deepest truths and emerge from our darkest tribulations.

A totally unexpected insight into a mind boggling journey
Listening to the extraordinary
journey Andrea's has been on, I was forced over and over to go inside myself and explore my own feelings and ideas about her road travelled.
Having been a teen in the 60's and 70's and being a survivor of some hard times, I thought I had well rounded personal growth...but listening to Andrea was mind blowing!
In the simplest manifestation, we arrive at the last year's of life with the wisdom gained through life experience, experimentation, risk and knowledge; however, Andrea's life has touched the outer limits if so many facets of a life journey, I found myself open to her world but exclusive of the amazing travel and exploration of planet earth, did the extremes of her journey bring a different level of spirituality in the sense of understanding life itself and where we fit in.
An absolutely intriguing book and woman who opened up my own 70 year old mind to an unexpected insight into other lives. Thanks for sharing!
i again had to wonder if my own less complicated life would have benefited or been tougher had I been on such an in-depth journey of experimentation and drugs and such a worldly interaction with life, the vast network of spiritual leaders and so many experimental practices.
I know I missed an immense experience with my very limited exploration of planet earth. To have the memories of the sites and dwellings and nature she has seen makes it perfectly clear what amazing sites and scenes too many of us never have through the gutsy b I was never capable of physically exploring my country and others for many reasons but how full that memory file must be for her!!!
There should have been no apprehension in publishing except the fear of the ignorance existing in the world.
It's caused me to wonder if the comparable less complicated, less interactive involvement in life would have benefited or been tougher had I been on a journey of experimentation and drugs and interaction with the vast network of spiritual leaders and practices. I know I missed a positive addition to my depth with the very limited exploration of planet earth. To have the memories of the sites and dwellings and nature she has seen makes ot perfectly clear what a plus it was to see and feel. I was never capable of physically exploring my country and others for many reasons but how full that memory file must be for her!!!
