About this listen
The book chronicles, in poetic form, the life of a woman who, in three distinct and significant life events, feels she is “the other woman” to her husband, to her child, and even to herself, rather than the woman who is “good enough” just as she is. Not until she loses her eyesight does she finally allow herself to stop putting herself aside and be who she always has been—a strong, insightful, creative, resilient, faith driven, funny, and fun-loving woman. A resurrected woman!
Additionally, this beautifully written memoir allows the listener to find connections in some of the poems through personal reflection opportunities if desired.- Rosebud spent all of her younger years, from birth to undergraduate school, in Florida. Since then, she has resided in Charlotte, North Carolina, where she and her husband raised three children and established enriching careers.
The majority of Rosebud’s professional career was with Charlotte-Mecklenburg School District. During her years in CMS, she worked as a secondary English and journalism teacher, a Professional Development Specialist, and the Director of the Department of Instructional Excellence, which gained national attention due to its success in training and mentoring first, second, and third year teachers, resulting in significant increase in teacher retention.
During her later years in CMS, Rosebud wrote an extensive curriculum for the training of new teachers called "The School-Based Teacher Academy". CMS piloted this program in five secondary schools with very good success.
