Read this story rather than listening to it.
This is the second book in a row where the narration has spoilt my enjoyment.
Richard Armitage was nuanced and brilliant however the uncredited Elly Kendrick was annoyingly breathy and lisping. Really poor.
The book itself was a curiosity. Convoluted, twisty plot that had an air of the supernatural, as in Tudor’s previous books, and again with a very Stephen King feel.
But it felt clinical and cold.
Repeated imagery of never-ending motorways, neon service stations, desolate beaches and stark hospital rooms seemed designed for cinema rather than a novel.
The overall premise was great and the storyline was neatly plotted but it wasn’t immersive.
A rather generous 4 stars as, despite only superficial similarities, it was unfortunate that this book came out so soon after The Chain.

Really gripping story
I will listen to anything read by Richard Armitage- his story telling is fantastic. I love how he uses his voice to engage the reader and create believable characters ! More from the narrator please!

suspense from start to finish
Love Richard Armitage’s voice, he is so good as a narration, clearly spoken and his character voice are superb. Very enjoyable story, had me hooked. Spine chillingly good.

Not the best fit for me
I thought that Richard Armitage gave an excellent performance of the book and lifted it, most of the book I found interesting and sympathetic with some moments of intrigue, but the main flaw for me was that it contained a supernatural element, it isn't the main element by far, but it is there and the moment supernatural elements appear my brain switches off a little and I lose interest, especially when a book is set in the 'real world'. Real-life is mysterious and chilling enough, we don't need supernatural nonsense to highen it. Other than that it was a good albeit predictable crime novel read by a very talented actor.

Tudors storytelling gets Better and Better
this is the 3rd Book I've read of CJ TUDORS and it's the best so far. The narrator does a great job of bringing the story to life.

great stuff
This is just unbelievably believable, which makes is very scary, the other people are like the old school free masons digitised and moved to the very present in real life dark web.

Really good - very gripping in places

Did it need the Sandman? I’m not sure as made it all less believable but nonetheless still really good
