About this listen

A dramatic and heartwarming Victorian saga, perfect for fans of Maggie Hope and Anne Bennett.

Shropshire, 1875.

Hettie Jones has grown up in Ironbridge. She has never known her father and, since her mother's death, has been brought up by the Malone family, who treat her as one of their own. She works as a pit girl at the local coal mine, alongside her childhood playfellow, Evan - although lately, their friendship seems to be blossoming into something more.

But when Queenie King takes a fancy to her, Hettie's life is transformed. Trained first as a lady's maid, and then hurtled into a world of luxury and gentility, she finds her new position difficult to reconcile with her past life. And with Queenie's daughter-in-law scheming against her, Hettie's situation becomes dire.

Can Hettie really use her new position for good, and will she find a way to bridge the divide between rich and poor?

Finally at Peace...

I have waited for 15 months to be able to enjoy the end of the saga. The least I can say is that the wait was not in vain. What a beautifully written story! So unpredictable in many ways. There is one character in particular whose fate I am happy with. Thank you Mollie Walton and good luck with whatever new story you are concocting for us.

I can't say anything stood out it was just enjoyable.

I enjoyed all three books and as I've visited all 7 places in Ironbridge I can picture in my mind the feud that was with the King's and the workers. Men, women and children endured so much it was understandable that they felt resentment, men were brought up thinking servants where there to serve them anyway they felt fit.
All in all a most enjoyable saga.

A wonderful series.

As so often happens, I listened to the first book in the series because it was included in the membership, and then was hooked! Ironbridge is one of my favourite places so I really enjoyed immersing myself in the life there during its industrial hey day. The characters were excellent and well rounded and the storyline kept me riveted through all three books. Excellent narration too.
