About this listen

When your best friend is also your boss, "great ideas" aren't always optional. After all, when you run the largest fashion, gossip, and trend blog in the country, you've got to take risks to keep it edgy.

Believe me. This is edgy.

The idea? For one week, date every male fantasy.

The list?

The Jock

The Rock Star

The Billionaire

The Stepbrother

See how they are all crossed off except one? That's because he's Satan.

And Scottish.

And my best friend's stepbrother.

And there may or may not have been an incident in junior high that he hasn't forgiven me for...but that's history. Or so I hope, because I'm at his mercy for the next week....

This is a really fun listen!!

I very much liked this book!! Meredith is a character it’s easy to picture, and the fact that she’s coerced by her beat friend to help with a dating piece for her blog... I can see that too!!

Kristin Vayden did a really excellent job with this story! I loved the way it all unfolded. The characters are fun and flirty, and the story will make you say awweee...

Tor Thom’s Scottish brogue is nice to listen to, and Charley Ongel did an excellent job!!

Entertaining and fun

When your best friend runs her own blog, sometimes you get roped into things you aren't too interested in but do them regardless.

This is the case for Meredith, her best friend Roxi has this grand idea that she needs to date all the stereotypical fantasies and see which is the best..

Sounds easy enough right? Yeah, when all the stereotypes are ground to dust what do you have left?

The stereotypes aren't as great as they are hyped up to be. In fact when she is down to the last two left, she is out of hope, the others have been total flops so she isn't too excited about these last two. Then she gets a small slap in the face when she realizes that Kirby, her best friend's step brother, is one of them. No chance in hell is she going to date him. He is the spawn of Satan, or maybe Satan himself. They have hated each other for years!

She is none too excited about this, and the fact that she is in another country doesn't really help, even if she has always wanted to go there. Things are interesting once she arrives to say the least.

The dynamic between these two is comical. They bring out the immature child in each other but it's fun and refreshing and interesting to say the least. I mean a big, badass Scottishman acting like a child is pretty entertaining to me. I laughed and truly enjoyed the duo's back and forth the entire time. I loved the history and understanding between the two.

I also thoroughly enjoyed Roxi and want to know her story. *wink wink*

These two narrators did fabulous! I loved the accent of Tor Thom, he brought Kirby to life in the best way! Charley Ongel did a great job as Meredith as well! Very well done!

Fun & Sweet

This is a wonderfully-written contemporary romance. The story is well-written, well-plotted with great characters. I really like the premises for the storyline, it's unique, entertaining, and delightful. Meredith, the main character, goes on a dating tour, getting the chance to go out with a Jock, Rock Star, and a Billionaire. Too bad each date ends disastrously. Poor Meredith!

At last, comes Kirby, her friend’s stepbrother, and the last man she wants to see. I particularly enjoyed the interaction between Meredith and Kirby, their banter is super entertaining. The icing on the cake is Kirby being a hot Scottsman, making him even more appealing.

The dual narration by Thom and Charley Ongel is marvellous. Both narrators complement each other and do a fantastic job with the characters' personalities and moods, bringing them to life. I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook.

Hilarious and so much fun

I've never read anything from Kristin Vayden but I really enjoyed this book. The banter and the funny situations just make this such an amusing experience. And the narration is done as a duet, making it feel like a play. It was awesome. Meredith is tasked with dating multiple men and to write on her and her friend's blog about it. The dates are great because they are generally disasters, which is always fun to read about. But the real heart and wonder of this book is the relationship between Meredith and her friend's stepbrother Kirby. The banter and their general vitriol towards each other and yet attraction is awesome. And I really really loved Kirby's Scottish accent.

I do think that there were moments that the narrators might have overacted and I cringed a little. While that could reflect the hilarious topic I didn't enjoy all the over the top acting at a couple of points. But this was such an overall awesome overall narration and I love duets. This narration definitely added to the enjoyment of the story.

Romantic Comedy

The One by Kristin Vayden is a romantic comedy that I listened to on audio narrated by Tor Thom and Charley Ongel.

This is the first book of Kristin's that I have read and it definitely won't be my last. I had a smile on my face through the entire book. I loved the relationship that bloomed between Meredith and Kirby.

Tor and Charley did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.

I would recommend this book if you love romantic comedies or contemporary romance.

Good Book

This book was fun to listen to and it kept me hooked from the very beginning. Meredith has been dating different types of men to help with her friend's blog. Her best friend sends her to Scotland for the stepbrother type and come to find out her best friends stepbrother is her childhood nemesis. The banter between Kirby and Meredith is fun and makes this book great.
