About this listen

David Timson talks about Charles Dickens, much loved for his great contribution to classic English Literature. Listen to David Copperfield narrated by Anton Lesser.

This much-loved novel was, by Dickens' own admission, his 'favorite child'. It is easy to see why, with its colorful characters ranging from the repulsive Uriah Heep to the endlessly improvident Micawbers, and dominated throughout by the moving story of David's search for a family and a home.

less excerpts more discussion, plse

I enjoyed this but would have preferred a longer discussion of the themes of the novel and fewer extracts, since most people listening to this will either have recently listened to the novel itself, or will be about to.
