About this listen
Is Ethan Smith friend or foe? Enemy or lover?
After being left at the altar on her wedding day, big city financier Allie Strickland returns to her quirky hometown hoping for peace and quiet to get over her fiancé’s betrayal.
But on the very first night, Allie’s nerves are shattered when an unexpected intruder breaks into the house while she’s taking a bubble bath. The intruder is devastatingly handsome, but she soon learns that he’s using a fake name and has old ties to Heartland Cove.
Forced by unusual circumstances to share the same rental house, Allie’s suspicions of the man grow - even as she finds herself attracted to him. But is Ethan Smith merely a freelancer on a magazine assignment as he claims - or an undercover spy for the mayor who wants to ruin the small-town charm by running a new highway through for his own profit?
When her ex-fiancé shows up out of the blue one night begging for a second chance, who can Allie trust - or will her own heart betray her?

A Fun Listen
There are some really unique aspects to this clean romance. The storyline of being left at the alter is one that I haven't personally come across before, but I'm sure its not entirely unique. I really loved these characters, they were just super cute and I loved seeing how the author built up Allie and Ethan's relationship. This was a fun clean romance with some comical moments thrown in. Loved this new to me author's writing. Also, the ex-fiance is a total jerk.
I thought the narrator did a fantastic job bringing out Allie's emotions throughout and just making these characters even more likeable in general. There was clear differentiation of character voices and her voice was clear. I think she was a perfect fit for this story. Although the arrator is new to me, I look forward to more of her work.

Sweet, fun romance
Fun! Fun! Fun! The Neighbor's Secret is a sweet, fun romance full of love, hope and of course secrets. Allie is left at the alter by her fiance, minutes before they are supposed to be married. Reeling from the hurt, she heads to her hometown and rents the first house she can find. Just close enough to her family, but giving her the privacy she needs, Allie begins to settle in when someone enters the house! Ethan Smith, the owner of the house is moving in, the realtor making an error. These two are at each other in the beginning, but once they decide to share the house, things begin to change. What we don't know, is all the secrets Ethan holds and will the attraction between Allie and Ethan grow to be more than lust! And what of Allie's ex? Will there ever be closure? This is full of a few plot twists that lead to Allie's growth and understanding of herself. Life never goes as expected and this book shows how to make the most of the surprises!
Sarah Sampino narrates the story with the hurt, frustration and hope throughout the story. I am enjoying her performances, giving life to the characters and bringing the story out in a way that I truly can feel the characters emotions. She does a wonderful portrayal and I look forward to more of this series.

A sweet romance
This was a lovely, sweet, romance. There were a couple of exciting scenes but what I loved most was the humour between them as they got to know each other while house sharing.
Ethan was adorable!
