Summary

A botched murder
At a very exclusive club
Chief of police - case closed
Seriously?

Marty’s discovery leads her to do the “right thing”, seek out the would-be murderer.

Revenge, greed, hate, love, and vices provide plenty of motives. But just which one was strong enough for someone to want to commit murder?

And what about that little Maltipoo with the wardrobe and jewels?

This is the ninth book in the popular High Desert Cozy Mystery Series by two-time USA Today best-selling author, Dianne Harman.

Money doesn't buy you a pass at murder

I enjoyed this book. It is a nice easy listen following Marty as she investigates a case that shouldn't be one, it was also unusual in the fact that there wasn't a murder and It was just an attempted one. It contains some interesting characters especially friends that dress up like there dogs (which just paints a lovely picture( and I enjoyed the way that Marty wouldn't let a murderer get away with it even if they are rich. This is my favourite series by this author because I like Marty's sister Laura and her psychic powers but I did think she was sadly missing in this book. She was there and did have some advice but it was only a little part. Other than that it was fun and the mystery was good. I didn't guess who the would be killer was but had plenty of guesses.
For her next appraisal of art work Marty needs an escort because she is working for a group of very rich men that is very exclusive that they need guards at the gates because some of the guest speakers have been ex presidents. So just how did somebody sneak onto the grounds and stab the manger in the back? Marty is the only one curious enough to ask, everybody else wants to keep it quite, including the police Chief. With her police detective husband Jeff out of town it is up to Marty to find the would be killer before her tries again.
I like the narrator she does a good job giving each character there own voice and bringing the story to life.
I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.
