Excellent book.

I bought this book because I was helping my daughter with her chemistry GCSE. I think the book is great, I very much like the fact that it is read by the author, I think that this is much better than being read by somebody else as she naturally emphasizes the important points and this makes it much easier to follow, and her deep interest in the subject is discernible and infectious; it is like listening to a lecture and I found it interesting and absorbing and a pleasure to listen to. The explanations in the book are very clear and I think it is a great introduction to the subject, it also covers a lot of ground and I think it will be of great use to anyone studying chemistry or to anyone who simply has an interest in the subject and it has me realise that chemistry is far more fascinating than I had previously thought.

Needs accompanying PDF

What would have made The Modern Scholar: Elemental Matters better?

Lots of detail that would have benefited from an accompanying PDF handout as other modern scholar courses do

Has The Modern Scholar: Elemental Matters put you off other books in this genre?

The modern scholar series is, by and large, very good and his book is no exception. However, without a supporting PDF I found I had to repeatedly rewind and reply lots of sections

What didn’t you like about the narrator’s performance?

Narration was clear and acceptable
