Disappointed it was so short

I really love this story from the books and movie and I enjoy dramatised audiobooks. A lot of Stephen King books are narrated really boring so this was a brilliant find. I loved the dramatisation of this and the audio was great. I listen on noise cancelling headphones and was able to pick up the background and conversations ok apart from small parts that were whispered. It would have been great if it was longer. I could have listened to this for hours.

Waste of Time

The amount of money you pay for an hour is ridiculous.
I wouldn’t waste your money

Over dramatised

It was over dramatised so hard to visualise at times. And missed some of context in the actual written story. Disappointing.

Missed opportunity

I'm a huge fan of King but this left me disappointed. The audio is presented with a whole bunch of sound effects and voices panned in and out to make it seem like you are there.
The reality is that they should have just been faithful to the source material and presented it like a normal audiobook.
King's writing is so good it doesn't need gimmicks like this. The strange audio presentation is distracting and it doesn't add anything to the experience.
Maybe some people who prefer movies/find books too slow or something might find it to their taste, but if you don't like books, why are you on Audible.

Not the real book

It's a dramatised audiobook - like a radio play made from the book. I really enjoy the writing style of King and unfortunately it really didn't come through in this version. It lost its flavour.

Not as good as the movie.

One of the very rare occasions I'll say the movie was better than the book.
This is more of a audio performance rather than your standard audiobook, and the recording is terrible. As someone has pointed out, Stephen Kings wrtitting doesn't need sound effects and other gimmicks. On top of that, the levels are so off, it's almost unlistenable. I listen to my books in the car, one minute it's too low, next a huge bang will happen for no apparent reason, so you turn it down, next your right back to someone whispering and you can't hear a damn thing again.
I get the effect they're trying to go for, but it really doesn't work.
Save your credit, go for another King book.

Disappointed with the way it’s recorded

When I went and got a lot of Stephen king books recommended to me by my mum The Mist was high on that list and when I came to listening it’s like I’m there, not in a senses of the book is good as in it’s like a play going on around you and there is no other option for this book to be read to you like normal. I’m very dissatisfied and upset with this as I’ve seen the movie and TV show and I know books are always better

Bad audio balance

Love Stephen King stories, but this didn’t make itself clear it was an audio drama, and was so badly audio balanced both with the vocal performances and the sound effects that it was impossible to listen to. Had to turn it up to full volume and listen three times to catch parts, only to have my eardrums nearly burst seconds later.

Waste of time and money

King doesn't need sound effects for any of his stories, the stories are enough, its all over the place, keep having to turn the sound up and down. Lost interest.
