About this listen
Riley’s not about to be told what she can and cannot do—unless of course, there’s a gun at her head.
After driving through a violent storm, young married couple Riley and Jake Marshall wind up stranded with a flat tire off the I-95 near Yemassee, South Carolina. They thought this would be the worst part of their day. They were wrong.
When the tow truck arrives ahead of schedule, Riley and Jake think their luck may have changed. Wrong again. Jakes’s expensive car is loaded onto the flatbed, and the unsuspecting couple climb aboard. What begins as a car theft and mugging turns much darker when the backwoods car thieves discover Jake’s family is worth millions.
Days pass, and Riley’s strong-willed mother is desperate for answers. Frustrated by the slow-moving police investigation, the family does some detective work of their own. What they uncover leaves them with more questions than answers.
Are the police concealing evidence? Or does this closely-knit family have a secret they’re keeping? Sometimes, the answers come from where they’re least expected.

Kept my attention
This could be seen as a typical who dun it story but its not...it has many layers to it and keeps the readers interests as it twists and turns...the characters are very clearly described and I had images of them and the locations as I went through the chapters...even though I knew who the abductors were all along, the weaving of the story held my attention and I couldn't wait for the next chapter... I finished the book in 2 days....the way the family reacted felt like how I would have reacted and the relationship between the police and the family was interesting too. I am not sure if this is a first book but if it is I look forward to the next one.
