About this listen
When Queenie Hennessy discovers that Harold Fry is walking the length of England to save her, and all she has to do is wait, she is shocked. Her note had explained she was dying. How can she wait? A new volunteer at the hospice suggests that Queenie should write again; only this time she must tell Harold everything. In confessing to secrets she has hidden for 20 years, she will find atonement for the past. As the volunteer points out, ‘Even though you’ve done your travelling, you’re starting a new journey, too.’
Queenie thought her first letter would be the end of the story. She was wrong. It was the beginning.Told in simple, emotionally-honest prose, with a mischievous bite, this is a novel about the journey we all must take to learn who we are; it is about loving and letting go. And most of all it is about finding joy in unexpected places and at times we least expect.

A beautiful companion to Harold Frys' story
A moving tale that gives life to Queenie's side of the story between Harold and herself.
Thoroughly enjoyable if ultimately sad experience that is wonderfully narrated by Celia.

Wonderful
Emotional without being mawkish, real and yet poetic. Superbly performed and written. If you enjoyed The Pilgrimage you will love this just as much.

Lovely
Certainly need to read The pilgrimage of Harold Fry before this one. Very enjoyable. I loved how Queenie kept her cards close to her chest.

Beautiful story, beautifully read
I put off listening to this story because I thought it would be too sad. It wasn't. Poignant yes, laugh out loud at times and without wishing to give anything away, the perfect ending. Beautifully narrated by Celia Imrie and a more than fitting companion to The Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry

Absolutely Brilliant
This is one of the best audio books I've ever listened to. I loved the Unlikely Pilgrimage of Harold Fry but Queenie's story is even better.
This book made me laugh and cry, it's absolutely brilliant.
