Contrived
An artificial collection of stories built around a common theme. Did not really come up to the expectations anticipated from such high quality authors. The stories were contrived - and a a result less than satisfactory.

The Good, the Bad & the Mediocre
I bought this book as it sounded just that little bit different. It started excellently, but went downhill and the ending was atrocious. Some of the tales were superb, one or two were vaguely disappointing, and the end tale was appalling - I agree with the reviewer who feels cheated out of the 'real' ending. I usually listen twice to all my new books, but memories of that ending have stopped me thus far. All books should have a beginning, a middle and an end, with the latter of these being the most important; if somebody knows where the real ending can be found, please let me know.

Didn't really enjoy this book
I struggled to finish - the problem is my favourite authors stood out to tell a good tale. If it's medieval I would have preferred the plot to stay there are not become futuristic

put off really
I had this book in my wishlist for a while..... before purchasing I read the reviews and then listened to the sample. It was the sample that coloured my decision not to purchase,I find mispronunciation irritating and spoils my enjoyment of the book.. research should have been done of Gaelic pronunciation..Clonmacnois is pronounced mac'neesh' not mac'noise'. and Bran is just that, not 'Brawn'..I felt I didnt wish to listen further.. sorry

The missing manuscript?
Much to enjoy! I listened twice - but again nodded off from time to time. My favourite writers' wrote brilliantly; my less favourite writers' did not do so well. And this is what accounts for my low rating; The Lost Prophecies by these mystery writers is a bold drive through the tapestries of time. The warp and the weft are colourful and the thread is strong yet the binding lacks dynamic tension and confidence of stroke. The overall image may be sainted byzantine mystery but this resolves into less mediaeval mosaics than murderous (if entertaining) macaroni. Above all, whilst I understand the logic of the final act, if anyone can find and substitute that story with what I feel must be the tale's true ending, please let me know; I'd start reading it all over again just to hear this.
