Summary

It is the summer of 1669, and England is in dire straits.

Marvellous Restoration adventure

Good fun

I suspect the author is much kinder to Pepys than he deserves. He really was a ghastly sexual predator but if you are willing to treat this one as a fictional character then the book provides a rip-roaring plot with great female characters and suitably loathsome politicians.

It is well narrated, well researched and a very interesting story line. I thoroughly recommend it.
