About this listen
Just when you thought it was safe to take the train....
It was supposed to be an uneventful trip. A three-day visit to Chicago to attend a funeral. But Eugene Pharrell has just stumbled into a maddeningly treacherous journey back home. One that has pitfalls, phantoms, lost worlds and, possibly, no way out.

Thought provoking
I really enjoyed this - it got you thinking and you were with the main character and completely lost at times. I had to listen to it again to get all the nuances, it was a good listen something completely different.
I liked the narration.

A journey into the unknown
Short, but perfectly formed, this story has all you need for a long train journey, just be careful you don’t get lost!
This is an object lesson into how to construct a short story: the author gives us everything we need to enjoy this dark journey into his version of the Twilight Zone, without an ounce of fat to slow us down. He manages to provide more elements of character and plot than some complete novels!
The story starts simply enough, but gradually, step-by-step, we begin to take a much darker journey than just a train ride home. Like the central character, we become increasingly disoriented and confused, wondering what will happen next. And like the character, we only get enough pieces of the puzzle to think we have all the answers. The journey may reach a destination, but is it the one you expect?
This deserves a second listen to pick up some of the nuances sprinkled throughout the story, which only become obvious after you have finished. The narrator fits the story well and adds flavour to the dialogue, offering a passable British accent when required, along with some grizzled snarling straight from the Clint Eastwood school of acting!
Thoroughly enjoyed this and worth the price of admission.

The narration was really well done as well, his voice is very pleasant to listen to & voiced different characters well.

Fun and unnerving short story
A good listen, plenty of weird stuff to get ones teeth into. It's a theme that's been well used before - getting stuck in a time loop, but it's nonetheless quite entertaining. Well narrated.

Excellent Narration on a Mind-bending Listen!
This short story gave more than many full length novels, and I thoroughly enjoyed the listen. It throws so much at you that I feel it’s worth a second listen, and one where you’re not sharing your attention with anything/anyone else, lol. Highly recommended and five stars from me 🙂
Many thanks to Roberto Scarlato for this free ARC listen!

The key to inner peace is to find the centre.
When author, Eugene Ferrell, takes the six hour return train journey from his uncle's funeral, he finds that the anticipated boring journey is anything but that. Intriguing plot with a twist of horror,
A fine performance by narrator, Michael Robbins.fine
A good mind bending read: recommended.

The Loop.
An intriguing story with a good dollop of horror. When Eugene goes to his uncles funeral the train journey home is far from what he expects. Michael Robbins narration is spot on, An excellent short listen, highly recommended.
