Summary
It was another drive-by shooting in one of Kindle County's most drug-plagued housing projects - but the victim was the ex-wife of a politician.
Now this explosive case is about to reunite an unlikely group of men and women who first bonded in the revolutionary fires of the 1960s...and show a once-crusading female judge, driven by both her fears and her courage, just how devastating a single wrong choice can be.

superb ramble
l loved this book. the tale is long and rambling split over 25 years with interconnected stories of a trial of love of all kinds and darker emotions. The trial scenes are written compellingly thighs little suspension of belief is required to accept that Sunni did not refuse herself from the trial at the outset. the narration is very good especially when narrating black characters street talk.

Fascinating and thought provoking
I was a bit put off by the flashback and forward it it fell into place as the book went on.
Interesting plot well told and the continuing story in the life of “sunny”.
Well written well read well enjoyed.

Fathers of laws our
Laws of our fathers is rightly regarded as one of Scott Turow’s best novels. It is a complex and compelling story of the intertwined lives of a group of people involved in a murder case in the fictional mid-western metropolis of Kindle Country.
Unfortunately this audio book betrays the original novel with key chapters presented out of order diminishing significantly the overall power of the book and the emotional impact of the narrative.

Far too long
I've loved every Turow book so far but really struggled with this one. The moving from past to present seems to have no rhyme or reason to it and the long, long sections from the past are a bit tedious.
I also think that although the narrator is excellent, it would have been much better to have had a second voice for the sections featuring Sunny. Having her chapters read by a man jarred and I often forgot that it was meant to be Sunny because it was the same voice (with no discernible effort to be a female voice) as all the male characters. Yet another example of what works on the page doesn't always translate well to audio. I wish Audible commissioning editors would give more thought to this.
