Summary
The buried contents of a Nazi train. An aging SS mass murderer still on the run. And the wartime secrets of a US presidential hopeful's Jewish family, hidden for seven decades.
War crimes investigator and ex-CIA officer Joe Johnson is more than intrigued when he learns of a link between the financing for the presidential candidate's 2012 campaign, the Nazi train, and a ruthless blackmail plot.
But the investigation becomes bigger and more deeply personal than Johnson expects when it turns out the SS Holocaust killer escaped his net years earlier.
Soon, there are high-level intelligence agencies and criminal networks combining across three continents against Johnson and his two female colleagues, one from MI6, the other a journalist.
He finds himself inextricably caught up in a terrifying quest to win justice, to avenge his mother's tortured past, and revive his flagging career.
With dramatic settings, explosive action and characters readers will come to love, The Last Nazi is a gripping full-length thriller - the first in a forthcoming series featuring Joe Johnson.
Meet Joe Johnson today and hear how he puts himself in the firing line in his fight for justice.

Annoying American narrator accent
A bit too long. Good story but too many coincidences. Narrators' accent was really irritating.

A poor hero
I normally enjoy books like this, but somehow this failed to hit many of the right notes. My main problem was the hero seemed to survive on luck and being fortunate enough to have friends that knew what they were doing. Yet it wasn’t written as an ensemble piece. Shame as some good ideas.

Appalling accents
The man from Lancashire’s accent varies from Geordie to Irish to South African to Indian.
The cockney accent is a close second to Dick Van Dyke in Mary Poppins.

Good story - performance annoying
It’s fiction so I don’t subscribe to the criticism of it not being believable. Yes, he has convenient friends that can help in every way required … need a safe-breaker? I know one. Need a gun? I can get one etc. That’s fine by me. The story was a good listen with very memorable characters and the descriptions of places and circumstances were excellent.
The performance was a bit so-so to be honest. For the most part it was good, but I was irritated by mispronunciations, pauses in the wrong places and most of all the accents … the security service female sounded dodgy and the safe-breaker was absolutely laughable and veered from Scottish to Irish to Scouse and generic northern. It was very distracting and when his part of the plot ended it was a relief!
Don’t let that put you off, just be prepared. It was a good book that I’m glad I listened to.

gripping and great revenge story
great story with interesting plot and revenge at it's core the protaganist is likeable and the supporting characters while under developed add necessary plot fillers if you want a good easy read for the holidays this is it but don't expect gritty wwii narrative sit back and enjoy

Good story but.....
Why does an American narrator think all British people sound like they all work on Downton Abbey (very posh) or a cheap cockney villain?
It's a good story, except for the authors need to tell you when the main character lights a cigarette!
BUT, the worse thing that let's this audio book down is the narration, this guy has a good voice and some of the accents are OK, but his take on British English is awful his 2 choices are very posh or cockney, plus there was one character was from the North of England and the narrator MURDERED the accent...
Please can you NOT try to do the British accent....

Hard to judge as the woeful narration masked the story
I was intrigued by the blurb and was interested by the plot however the narration completely ruined the book and made the plot impossible to follow. Everything was wrong about the delivery of this book. The tone, pronunciation of words and the female voices were the worst I have ever heard. Utterly appalling

Dreadful narrator
Audible has form in selecting mainly American narrators who can’t pronounce foreign words or place names and distract from the listening experience. This one is the worst I have ever heard and he’s up against some stiff competition. I recommend buying the book and not the Audible version
