About this listen
1940. Cora Mayhew came to Paris to search for her birth mother and stayed to work for the resistance movement. When Cora's train is struck by Nazi bombs, the only thoughts on her mind as she staggers from the wreckage are to escape to return to her family, and to post the heart-wrenching letter clutched in her hand. Then a German soldier finds and saves Cora.
Max Heller is nothing like she would have expected: kind, good-humoured and selfless. Cora can't help falling in love with him as he helps to plot her escape. But the discovery of a devastating secret about her birth mother forces her to confront a painful truth. The contents of her letter are too important not to make it out of Paris, but should she place her trust in an enemy soldier, or go it alone and risk everything?

The pace is so laborious
I’ve just got to the end of chapter 2 and I can’t listen to anymore. he pace is so slow. I can’t decide whether it’s because of the way it’s written or whether the way it’s being performed. I’m having to concentrate so hard to keep my interest.
