About this listen
There might be no such thing as werewolves, vampires, or ghosts, but apparently evil dickhead Klowns are real.
Tempest Michaels is once again investigating ridiculous cases that are clearly not even slightly paranormal in nature, but his daily menu of fun is interrupted by a plague of men dressed in garish outfits with twisted clown makeup as they terrorize the Kent towns and villages with ever-escalating and more-frequent attacks.
If they were not enough of a nuisance, he has foolishly employed a woman with whom he is utterly in love. Trying to ignore Mr. Wriggly’s thoughts about what to do with his new colleague, he goes after his silver medal, a girl he lusted after years ago at school. But while Mr. Wriggly might not care tuppence about the difference, is Tempest’s heart really in it?
The Klowns should be a case for the police to solve, but their leader appears to have a serious beef with Tempest, and they are coming for him and anyone who gets between them.
Who are the Klowns? What do they want? And what's with the ridiculous smiles?
Throw in a demonic possession, a restaurant with ghostly footsteps, and some more meddling by his mother, and it looks like another entertaining week for Kent’s best paranormal investigator.

Great fun
Great story and the narration is spot on, reflecting the characters brilliantly. The tone and pace reflect the story, from highly charged fight scenes to little romantic interludes, though Big Bens inputs may not quite be Mills and Boon!
Great story and all brilliantly quite silly. I mean, an ex-army officer cum private detective who investigates the paranormal - which he has no belief in what so ever - who drives a sport car and has a pair of miniature dachshunds. What could possibly go wrong?
Charles Robert Fox does a great job with the narration, and you will really believe that Tempest is talking to you and you will be seeing the world from his eyes.
I have listened to the other later books as well and heartily recommend them. they get better and better, and best thing of all the narration and plot lines are consistently good.

can I give 5* to the book and 0* to narration?
I really really really like this series, BUT when I started listening to this book I was surprised by a change of narrator. I am really struggling to finish now, the emphasis on the first syllable in each word drives me bonkers. I may have to put this series at the end of my 'to read' list, because the narration kills it for me completely :(

The adult scooby doo style story
It's another good story but come on, who is the protagonist? Is it tempest or "Mr wriggly".

Evil clowns are no joke!
This story was filled with very nasty baddies who were relentless. But the humourous parts kept it from becoming overbearing. Big Ben's problems become hilarious and helps buffer the awful things the bad guys keep doing. Another great read by a great author! The narrator for the audiobook is great and his stoic way of orating helps keep the humourous parts to the forefront. Laugh out loud funny parts that make it such a great read.

Absolutely awful narration
Having listened to the first two books in the series I was looking forward to this book, how disappointed was I when not only had the narrator changed but he'd gone from a believable thirty something to a seventy five year old with breathing difficulties. The book is written in the first person so this is important. This book is so badly read that I gave up and will just read it myself. Very disappointed 😞
