About this listen

Did Grace Peltier commit suicide?

When a mass grave in northern Maine reveals the final resting place of a religious community that disappeared almost 40 years earlier, private detective Charlie Parker, hired to investigate the circumstances of her death, realises that their deaths and the violent passing of Grace Peltier are part of the same mystery, one that has its roots in her family history and in the origins of the shadowy organisation known as the Fellowship.

Aided by the genial killers Angel and Louis, Parker must descend into the depths of a honeycomb world populated by dark angels and lost souls, a world where the ghosts of the dead wait for justice and the unwary are prey for the worst kind of creatures: the killing kind.

An absolute excellent listen... As usual the narrator does a brilliant job. Can't wait to continue with the series.

Fantastic Poetry in Prose

… on an incredibly intricate and twisted ocult plot… better than Stephen King in my opinion. Loved it

incredible!!

I read this several years ago and got hooked on John Connelly and the Charlie Parker series. this stands up there as one of the best crime, action, thrillers out there!

the narrator however turns this from an excellent book into an incredible experience. his portrayal of Charlie Parker is exactly how I pictured it and his characters and inflection bring life to the bit parts, the side kicks and the sinister evil villains

If you come across this book and your tempted to try something new you cannot go wrong!!

unless your afraid of spiders that is!

Great story

The characters are of the old era the dialog it reminds me of the 1950's detective with the smart answers and Jeff Harding tells it wonderfully

Charlie descends into a web of crime and horror.

It strikes me that Charlie Parker novels by John Connolly have a steady consistency in style and content. This is to suggest, that if you loved book one, then two, three and four will satisfy the reader/listener equally. This is my experience so far. Connolly’s novels tend to make me hungry for the next one, upon the conclusion of Charlie’s gruesome and gripping cases. Jeff Harding provides an equally robust ad consistent narration to the stories. I loved The Killing Kind, it was an immersive, gritty, crime thriller. Arachnophobes beware!

The Best Novel So Far in The Series.

Bird, Louis and Angel take on their worst adversary yet - a real spider man in the hunt for the killers of a commune whose bones turn up. More murder, mayhem and ghostly going ons ensue.
Rachael also appears.

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me wakened into the small wee hours. It’s not a tale for the squeamish as the bodies pile up quite quickly and the deaths are descriptive and gory. Spiders play a prominent part in this novel!

The narration was excellent but I note there is a change of narrator for the next book I can only hope he is as good :)
