About this listen

As we learn about how our subconscious beliefs affect our actions, the more we understand why racism has endured over the last 250 years.

Most of us know that our history is plagued by atrocious acts of slavery, racism, and discrimination. What many people don’t fully consider is the perpetuation of subconscious beliefs about race. This belief that racial discrimination is acceptable has been handed down in our culture from one generation to another. The unchecked spread of racism serves only to corrupt the human rights of all racialized people.

At this point in human history, the ugliness and disproportionate views about race and privilege have become a rallying cry for people striving for change in institutionalized systems such as policing, politics, and the law. These people are opposed, often violently, by racial zealots who feel entitled to resist the need for racial equality and justice.

  • Civility has taken a back seat to verbal attacks, violence, and defamation of character and property.
  • Attempts to solidify white power and dominance are seen daily, not only in the news, but in our own neighborhoods and communities.

Isn’t it time to end these horrific and narrow-minded thoughts and acts once and for all? Yes, it is! Can’t we educate ourselves and others? Can’t we communicate our goals of ending racism and be heard? Can’t we establish true freedom for all people, everywhere? Yes, we can!

This won’t be easy, and it won’t happen fast. By learning about the roots of racism and the evils of slavery, resisting conformity, and liberating our minds, we can travel the road of social responsibility. We can enlighten ourselves and others about how to resist and overcome racism and discrimination in our lives, our community, and our world. Let’s move forward and build a peaceful and cohesive community together.

We can abolish racism.

We can learn to live free of racial bias.

We can build a world that embraces freedom and equality for all.
