About this listen

Susan and George have just returned from their 10,000-mile last-hurrah and 40th-anniversary road trip.

During their travels, Susan has shed the strong urge to run away from the care-giving role she was given when George was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.

The readers of her travel blog encouraged her to keep writing when she got home. "Your journey is not over," they told her.

So Susan kept writing the friendly, open posts that seemed more like a letter from a friend than a computer post. She recorded life moments honestly and openly. The readers would open their mailbox periodically throughout the day, anxious to dive into another update that would have them laughing, or crying, or just shaking their heads.

Now you, too, can take the journey with Susan and George. Learn how they found fun, joy, and fellowship despite living with progressive dementia symptoms.

Find yourself entertained and pulled into their story as you learn:

  • Caregivers Stuff Feelings
  • The Art of Dealing with Bullies
  • Levels and Stages of Dementia
  • Traveling with Dementia
  • Respite Care Rescue
  • Dementia Care Training
  • Instructing Respite Caregivers
  • Bicycle Friends are the Best
  • Alzheimer’s is Crappy
  • Sleep, the Game Changer

And much more...

A Sad but Uplifting Story

This is the second instalment from Susan Straley about her time living with husband George who is declining into deeper dementia. I really don’t know how this strong and vibrant woman coped with this situation. She stays positive throughout always looking at that half full glass, despite everything. The cast of characters does not just include Sue and George but also all of their extended family and friends, without whom I don’t things would been a tenth as easy.
All I can say is Susan, keep riding!
I was gifted this copy of this wonderful audiobook and it has been my privilege to listen to it and be part of the lovely couple’s journey and my pleasure to leave this review.
