About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

We live under an ideology that preys on every aspect of our lives: our education and our jobs; our healthcare and our leisure; our relationships and our mental wellbeing; even the planet we inhabit – the very air we breathe. So pervasive has it become that, for most people, it has no name. It seems unavoidable, like a natural law.

But trace it back to its roots, and we discover that it is neither inevitable nor immutable. It was conceived, propagated, and then concealed by the powerful few. It is time to bring it into the light - and, in doing so, to find an alternative worth fighting for.

Neoliberalism. Do you know what it is?

If you want a myth buster of our current political and world order system, then this is the one to read.
Manages to sum up all those things you kind of knew, but had no way of connecting them. And in such a short uncomplicated read!
Or you can carry on sticking your head in the sand ;)

This is probably the single most important book I read this year - or in recent years, even. It's a concise and precise summary of why the world is the way it is. by around page 50 you are guaranteed to be horrified... but keep reading! This book might take all your hope away, but it then gives you a new kind of hope, and real inspiration to act.

must read for everyone
