About this listen

A teen descendant of a Native American tribe cursed by an ancient creature may be the only one who can save his bloodline in this YA supernatural thriller.

Deep in the North American forests lurks an animal spirit known as the Grishla. The Grishla is so ancient it pre-dates the human race by several million years, and it is so powerful and reclusive only very insightful witches know of its existence. Five hundred years ago, the Dwanake tribe possessed such witches. Drunk on their own power and arrogance, these witches attempted to enslave the Grishla. Enraged, the creature began hunting and killing the Dwanake. Desperate, the tribal elders ordered experiments on the Dwanake children to create the ultimate witch to defend their people. Sixteen-year-old Sean Wolf is that witch. But Sean is so powerful that he cannot control his own magic. Will he be able to defeat the Grishla or will he destroy himself and everyone that he loves?

Better than I could ever have expected!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Hunted Tribe to be better than the print version?

No, but that is only because I love books. I love paperback. This was my first audiobook. I was unsure what to expect. I was really surprised.

What did you like best about this story?

I loved the back story of the tribe and how their greed was their downfall. I liked how this 'thing' called the Grishla (probably spelled that wrong) hunted down the descendants of that tribe through the decades.
I felt sorry for Shrenam (again not sure of the spelling) and I will be buying the 2nd book to find out what happened to him and his daughter, as well as Jimmy and Sean and the other two boys.

Have you listened to any of Terry F. Self’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not, this is the first audiobook I have ever listened to. I loved it. I think he did an amazing job. Top marks on his cranky old woman voice too lol.

Did you have an emotional reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

I laughed at Bear, he is a great character. But, some of the other characters I wanted to shake for being either rude or downright mean. This was a well-written book.
10/10 for being unique and I applaud Roma Gray for taking this leap.

Any additional comments?

I really enjoyed this audio book and I loved how handy it was to listen at times I would not be able to read (ie. cleaning, walking or driving) but I think this may be my only one. As fantastic as this audiobook has been I would not be able to afford these.

Superb story, brilliantly written and narrated.

What made the experience of listening to The Hunted Tribe the most enjoyable?

The characters and the story development as well as excellent narration and production.

What did you like best about this story?

The character development was incredible. Reminiscent of the better Stephen King work.

Which scene did you most enjoy?

The cabin scene. That was so tense. It was fantastically written and the narrator caught the mood.

If you made a film of this book, what would be the tag line be?

Remember! Grandma always knows best.

Any additional comments?

There was nothing not to love about this book.
