The intriguing mystery

A jaunt along a train, that grips from the start. The main character is smart and cool. The fellow characters are bought to life and I sometimes forget a male was narrating. Good plot with clues along the way that doesn't unravel until the end. Makes me want to strike up a lucky and swig back a taylor. First class, thank you

absolutely brilliant!

To say I could not put this down is an understatement!

We are back for the 4th book in the Holy City/ Duke Dempsey series and I think it may be my favorite (I think I say that every time I read one) .

This time the story didn't take place in Charleston but on a train from Charleston to New York. Dempsey is forced to go on a vacation and has been given a ticket for the inaugural trip of this new train and in true Dempsey style he gets thrown into the deep end almost immediately when there is a murder.

What I love about these books is there is a real mystery and problem solving which I don't often find in similar books. I really think I know who did it and why and then there is a new revelation that completely throws me off!

I absolutely love the writing style of the author and how he comes up with these plots is so intriguing to me! I really cannot wait to see what happens next as I think Dempsey is going to have a pivotal part to play in WW2
!

I had the audiobook version of this book which I listened to at x1.20. I liked the narrator from the beginning and he managed to really portray all the characters well. Perfect choice!
