As a young teenager at the end of the 1950s, I was fortunate in being able to stay for a short time in Denmark, and remember clearly being, even then, so impressed both by the intelligence and warmth of the Danes, the beauty of the country and the far more advanced comfort and practicality of their homes.
Disappointingly brief, this book nevertheless does what it says in the title: gives an history of Denmark, starting almost 15 thousand years ago and moving forward, by period and chapter, to the present day. Interesting throughout, it was difficult sometimes to hold in mind all names and treaties along the way until the more present twentieth century onwards and it's world position of being one of the most satisfying, happy places in which to live.
