The story laid some good foundations for the next installment.

The narrator is awful, this women has never known happiness or excitement. Everything is read in one tone, you would hardly know an thrilling battle it's taking place with it being described so blandly.

You're better off saving your credit or money and go buy the book

A Gripping Introduction to a Fascinating World

I picked up The High Kahl's Oath on Audible out of pure curiosity, wanting to see what this new race and setting were all about—and I’m thrilled to say I wasn’t disappointed!

This book serves as an incredible introduction to a rich and immersive world, with characters and cultures that feel both fresh and deeply intriguing. The Iron Kin, in particular, captured my imagination; their role in this society is fascinating, and I found myself craving more details about their history and significance.

The story itself follows a straightforward yet compelling arc: one character stepping into leadership, taking on immense responsibility, and setting off on a quest for powerful artifacts, all while clashing with some formidable foes—including the ever-intimidating Orks. While the plot may not be overly complex, it’s the emotional weight of the protagonist’s journey and their desire to balance duty with adventure that truly drew me in.

The pacing is tight, the action is thrilling, and the worldbuilding is top-notch. If you’re a fan of high-stakes fantasy where the culture and characters truly shine, this is a must-read. I’m already invested in this world, and I can’t wait to see where the story leads next!

Okay First book but a bit bland.

Felt like the narrator didn't fit the characters and very samey most way through out, also thought the Londoner accent didn't fit the characters.
Writing: It felt like several hours in before anything happened with very little pause to differentiate a change in location or time.

I just hope it goes better than Path of The Eldar in the future.

Bad choice of Narrator.

Unfortunately everything about this story was overshadowed buy the narrator. She couldn't make the male characters masculine enough and the feel of grim dark was lost as she couldn't create the atmosphere I love. If I had listened to the excerpt I would have realised and wouldnt have wasted a credit on it. Truly disappointed as I will have to buy a hard copy just to enjoy the story. Mistake made and I will now ALWAYS LISTEN TO THE EXAMPLES!

Good story with convoluted B plot that added little to the story

I enjoyed learning about the votan culture but Leckie is a terrible character that shouldn't have been in it and the narrator was a little flat

Let down by narrator

I ended up just speeding this story up to get through it because the narrator was so really poor. Several characters sounded the same and some just really got on my nerves. Very bland and waste of a credit.

Good Story, bland narrator

I hate to say it but this narrator just doesn't fit for a novel about what are essentially space dwarfs. Comes across dull, bland and uninterested in what she is reading, shame as story seems very engaging.

Promising story let down by bland performance.

I really wanted to enjoy this book after waiting so long for the first book about the Leagues, but the narration was underwhelming and a poor choice for the setting with little energy or focus on making the characters stand out.
