About this listen
The first easily accessible translation of the esoteric writings that inspired some of the world's greatest artists, scientists, and philosophers.
Here is an essential digest of the Greco-Egyptian writings attributed to the legendary sage-god Hermes Trismegistus (Greek for thrice-greatest Hermes), a combination of the Egyptian Thoth and the Greek Hermes.
The figure of Hermes was venerated as a great and mythical teacher in the ancient world, and was rediscovered by the finest minds of the Renaissance. The writings attributed to his hand are a time capsule of Egyptian and Greek esoteric philosophy and have influenced figures including Blake, Newton, Milton, Shelley, Shakespeare, Botticelli, Leonardo da Vinci, and Jung.
Providing a fascinating introduction to the intersection of the Egyptian and Hellenic cultures and the magico-religious ideas of the antique world, The Hermetica is a marvelous volume for anyone interested in understanding the West's roots in mystical thought.
The Hermetica is expertly narrated by Brian Arens, an listener favorite.

Life Changing Wisdom
I grew up in the era of Freke and Gandy - benefitting from their groundbreaking scholarship, insight and guidance. They clarified where established religion sullied and obscured. They do not reject religion - but rather lift it into the realm of universal spiritualism - from which we can all partake without unnecessary limitation. Of course, they have performed this function yet again with the Hermetica - which is probably the origin of all Western monasticism. The work of Toth as interpreted for the Greeks by Hermes. The mind and how it internally reflects matter - but also how the capacity to "imagine" is potentially limitless! It may be possible to free conscious awareness from the body that contains it!

Light version of the Emerald tablets 💚
A more modern view of Thoth's knowledge brought forward by Hermes.
Love the story of how Hermes's material survived different times and influenced culture everywhere "it" went.

Absolutely beautiful.
You'll learn a lot and be left with plenty to contemplate. Such wisdom, lost to most of us.
