About this listen

Brought to you by Penguin.

The resort of their dreams.

A destination to die for...

WELCOME TO PARADISE!

Or so the staff say when they greet the Hamiltons at the idyllic Asana Fushi resort in the Maldives.

And it starts off that way: champagne picnics on powder-white sand, snorkelling in the serene blue sea and moonlit walks under the stars.

But lies lurk beneath the luxury because each of the guests has a secret, and they're not the only ones.

How can a once-in-a-lifetime trip turn into the holiday from hell?

From the author of THE BEACH PARTY comes a novel of sun, sea and secrets for fans of ONE OF THE GIRLS and WHITE LOTUS.

Utter rubbish

Incredibly disappointing book. Pathetic (and at times pointless) characters that didn’t engage me in the slightest. Weak story line with the overarching theme of preaching on about climate change (something I massively support but had no place in this book).

Narration equally did nothing to engage me.

Don’t waste your money/credit.

Not my cup of tea, at all.

Got about half way through but have given up. An absolute load of drivel. Weak story, nasty characters, and the theme of climate change thrust down your throat ad nauseaum, without any point. Too much pondering and hinting about events to come and events gone by without delivering anything, everything over described and drawn out and a storyline that too ages to go anywhere. A Frustrating and irritating listen. Don’t waste your time.

Unpleasant, shallow characters

Unpleasant, shallow characters are fine if there’s some wit involved but these were boringly nasty, selfish people and the story was wrapped up in vague engagement with important climate emergency questions. Good plotting, but that didn’t save it for me - I feel depressed and tainted now.

Not for me

I enjoyed this author’s other book on Audible so was looking forward to this but sadly it fell flat for me. I didn’t care enough about any of the characters to be really invested in what happened to them and found the passages on the environment a bit crowbarred in, they didn’t seem to sit well with the tone of the book. The narration was strangely flat & monotone which made it a bit of a drag to listen to. All the right elements of a good story were there, they just didn’t seem to come together for me somehow.
