About this listen
Heart disease is the #1 killer. However, traditional heart disease protocols - with their emphasis on lowering cholesterol - have it all wrong. Emerging science is showing that cholesterol levels are a poor predictor of heart disease and that standard prescriptions for lowering it, such as ineffective low-fat/high-carb diets and serious, side-effect-causing statin drugs, obscure the real causes of heart disease. Even doctors at leading institutions have been misled for years based on creative reporting of research results from pharmaceutical companies intent on supporting the $31-billion-a-year cholesterol-lowering drug industry.
The Great Cholesterol Myth reveals the real culprits of heart disease, including:
- Inflammation
- Fibrinogen
- Triglycerides
- Homocysteine
- Belly fat
- Triglyceride to HCL ratios
- High glycemic level

very important book
This book is very interesting and eye opening. I read it because my cholesterol had gone up and i was worried, but not any more. The authors use the results of many medical studies to prove their point that using statins to lower cholesterol does not prevent heart disease and comes with many risks, some serious.

Essential reading - highly recommended
This book is absolutely essential for anyone who is concerned about heart health or has been duped into taking statins by potentially well meaning yet ill-infomed doctors. It covers the science, development and controversy surrounding these over prescribed medications, and alsoalternatives remedies for maintaining heart health.
The narration has an undulating monotone quality that was really irritating, but fortunately the amazing content makes up for the painful performance.

Essential information
Any additional comments?
This book is an essential resource for anyone looking to improve their general health. It highlights some serious issues in the current dogma surrounding nutrition and healthy diets. As a society we now place too great an emphasis on avoiding evil cholesterol and this book attempts to challenge the thinking and Science behind that advice. A truly informative and eye-opening listen. It has seriously impacted upon the way I eat and lead my life... and definitely for the better!

Worth Reading
I have read many books on personal health, and this is up there in my top 10. I only have on audio, but I would say anyone concerned with health would not be wasting their time reading this one.
