JK Rowling has competition

Totally captivating. So many pathways, you just don’t know what’s around the corner. I can’t wait for the next one. - there has to be a next one. Keep writing Xander, you’re really good at it.

Absolute page turner

A children’s story only in the absence of swear words! It is a fascinating story which builds and builds as you read until you are desperate to know the ending. A gentle quizzical intertwining of the modern world with myth and legend. A delightful read.

Wow! A MUST-READ for any age! Loved it 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

I was gripped from beginning to end by this wonderful book. Oh my goodness - it’s exactly the sort of ‘good versus evil’ story that the world needs so much right now!
I hope it will be made into a film so more people can access it all over the world. So powerful.
First I read the hardback - couldn’t put it down - then a few weeks later I bought the audible version. It’s so brilliantly read by Alexander Armstrong and, when listening in the car, there were several times when I had to pull over as I was so enthralled and didn’t want to arrive at my destination before the end of the chapter! Apart from it being a brilliant story with such believable characters, I loved the detailed descriptions of all the places, and their ancient history. I loved the unquenchable curiosity and anticipation I felt at the start of each new chapter as more wonderful stories of the Golden Linnets and the Evening were slowly revealed.
I also enjoyed listening to it being read aloud by Alexander and his brilliant intonation and all the different voices of the characters. I’m going to miss it now it’s over!
I recommend this 500% to ALL ages. You will NOT be disappointed.
And I can’t wait for the sequel to come out!
Thank you Alexander Armstrong for sharing your wonderful imagination with us all and for bringing a feeling of hope and optimism back into a rather dark world.
