People would kill to have Faye Adelheim’s life. She lives in an ultra-swanky apartment in the most exclusive area of Stockholm, she has a gorgeous husband who gives her everything she’s ever wanted and she has an adorable daughter who lights up her world. Faye’s life is perfect.
So how is it, then, that she now finds herself in a police station?
The truth is that Faye’s life is far from what it seems. The truth is that Faye isn’t even her real name. And now she’s been caught out. There’s no way she’s going to go down without a fight. The only question is – who will escape with their life?

Excellent
Wonderful revenge thriller, suspenseful and satisfying. Can’t recommend this book and this author highly enough.

Not at all like original Camilla Lackberg Swedish crime books
I was very disappointed with The Gilded Cage. As a big fan of Camilla Lackberg’s Erica Falck novels I am always looking for something new from her. This was a poor, thin plot and sadly, full of tedious sexual encounters described in detail. There was no tension or suspense and the plot twist comes in the last 2 minutes.

Too feminist and frustrating
The story itself wasn’t very enjoyable, I’m a Camilla fan and I’ve read loads of her books in Danish and the stories have been interesting, but this one seems too much about revenge and there is too much swearing in it, making it all sound too cheap. I’ve pretty much lost interest after the first few chapters.
I will finish it, but I also find one of the narrator’s voices annoying, there is a constant lip smacking and swallowing noise that is way too disrupting. Not to mention her inability to pronounce place names correctly. “Chamonix” (Sends shivers down my spine).

Stunning narration
Stunning narration brings spellbinding story so beautifully to life that I found it difficult not to lsten until the very end of the book in one sitting. Brilliant. Can't wait to read the next Camilla Lackberg. Thank you Audible.

5 stars!
My first book by Camilla Lackberg and what a great surprise! Her writing style is wonderful and you would not know the book wasn't originally in English (in fact the grammar is better as no colloquialisms). Intriguing storyline and the narrator did a superb job, her voice was perfect for the main character. (There are a few sex scenes so just a warning for those who might not like that).

Different to her other books
I have read several of Camilla Lackbergs books, this is quite raunchy compared to her others so you wouldn’t really want to listen to it on a car journey with others! Having said that I enjoyed it.

Best Writer
Faye is very smart but very needy from an horrific childhood and all she wanted was a good marriage. It is not difficult to understand why she set up her father and husband but why did she have to kill unimportant Victor who was forgotten in the book as soon as she walked away? That is the dark part. I listen with ear pods; there was no sudden blasting music and the narration didn't offend my ears. Excellent story, I have read all her books and would rate this one more that five.

Fabulous plot
The listener is deliberately kept guessing about what led to the events described at the beginning. The resolution was worth the wait.
