About this listen
How do you move on when the whole world is obsessed with your breakup?
Ten years ago, Holly Hart’s ex-boyfriend, Elliot Sinclair, turned their relationship into a bestselling novel that transformed her quiet English village into a bustling tourist hotspot. Worse, the book’s fame came with a fictionalized version of their story—and zero credit for Holly’s role in helping him write it.
Now, every holiday season, Holly can’t escape the reminders of her past, with visitors flocking to her town and asking if she’s “the girl from the story.”
When Holly lands her first big ghostwriting job—a Christmas romance—she seizes the chance to reclaim her narrative and take a jab at Elliot. But her plans go awry when Elliot unexpectedly returns to town, charming as ever and working on a mysterious new book of his own.
As Holly navigates forced proximity with the man who broke her heart, she begins to unravel secrets about their past that don’t quite add up. With timelines shifting between their whirlwind romance and their icy reunion, Holly starts to wonder: did she ever truly know Elliot?
Perfect for fans of second-chance romance. The Ghostwriter of Christmas Past is a love story about facing the past, embracing the present, and discovering the magic of love all over again.

Wonderful lovestory.
A beautiful, sensitive lovestory, sometimes emotional, other times fabulously fun, with believable characters and a lot of misunderstandings. Laura Greaves does a good job narrating the book. Highly recommended.

A lovely christmassy romance
The story was beautifully written, I loved the past and present timelines following throughout the book. Good twists I didn’t expect! Plus Laura Greaves done an excellent job bringing the story to life!

Heart warming Christmas romance with clever twists
A really enjoyable story with a clever plot device with parallel interwoven timelines and plenty of unpredictable twists in the story. The characters are well developed and complex which makes the story especially engaging. I like the familiarity of the way in which the small town/village is portrayed which gives the story a sense of reality. The second chance fits perfectly with the spirit of hope at Christmas.

Lovely, gentle book
I liked the story but struggled with listening to it. A combination of the reader and it not being the kind of book I would normally listen to. After a few chapters I downloaded to my kindle instead. I then really enjoyed reading it over a couple of hours.

Christmas Past
Loved the narration of Laura Greaves
We go back and forth between the 10 years when Elliott and Holly first meet initially and the return the present. When they first meet Elliott it was love fast and hard, where he wrote a book about their love story. Then he leaves her. Turning a once happy Holly into the Grinch. Years later Holly can get her revenge.
You will want to shout at these two and at the same time laugh out loud.

A cosy Christmas listen
Like Amber Eve’s other novels, I really enjoyed this. It’s a great listen for a winter evening when you’re tucked up on the sofa. The narration is perfect - Amber’s novels are becoming more polished with each issue and audiobooks are so versatile. I work in a library and I frequently prefer listening to save my eyes.
Great characters - I enjoyed how Holly comes into her own as she overcomes heartache… and crosses paths with Elliot again! We follow her as she readies herself for another not-feeling-it Christmas which strikes a chord with those of us who, at best, may find the season a nuisance (not again!). And Amber has great secondary characters too - my favourites are the town’s own Ugly Sisters.
The setting has a bookshop, Christmas trees and the scent of mulled wine in a pretty village. As an artist, I do enjoy a description and sense of place in a novel. Some great turns of phrase too - I laughed at the man who can “bore for Britain” and the teapot the colour of snot.
Plot-wise, the story flows and Amber handles the backstory well, which can sometimes be hard for writers. As a reader, I was engaged in both timelines. A great festive period read and/or listen with a mix of emotions.

Very festive
Disclaimer: I received a free copy to review via Booksprout.
The narration was very good.
The story was a lovely Christmassy story, it splits between past and present for the first 3/4 of the book, which isn't usually my thing but I didn't mind it in this case.
