About this listen

Not only is the Ghost Platoon the only permanently configured platoon in the Tasmanian SFG, it only has ten men assigned, never has an assigned objective, and is commanded by a woman whose call sign is Fox.

While most in the Tasmanian SFG hunt the enemy like a pack of wolves, the Ghost Platoon is frequently behind enemy lines, like foxhounds, searching for ways to be a general pain in the enemy’s ass.

Another fun read!

Book 4 has a slightly different slant to the first 3 books. The assignments are more structured, with more civilians involved. Jolie is growing into her role as the platoon's leader, and she’s also more impatient and bad-tempered with her brothers.
For some reason, Daems decided to 'play around' with names in book 4. Instead of being called by their first names or call-signs, the Ghosts are now often referred to by their surnames. This caused me some initial confusion as I thought the Ghosts Platoon had acquired new members. Van (Salamander) is now referred to as Van Low, and who is Ramos? Tonk, not a ghost, who went through books 1-3 without a call sign, has now acquired one. But these are minor details.
More puzzling to me is Colonel Medina's inclusion/role, throughout the book, as she’s not a Tasmanian, let alone a ghost, and her actions (or more to the point, her non-actions) did not have any effect/impact on the outcome. It’s a wonder the Rangers (on assignment with her) have not asked for her to be replaced as their commander as she seems to spend more time socialising or running around with Jolie and the Ghosts than in being a leader to them.
This leads me to speculate that Daems is preparing us the readers/fans to the idea that Jolie and Medina may end up as a couple in future books.

Still enjoying

There is a lot action in these tales but there is also quite a bit of repeating. We all know that Fox is Jolie’s call sign and why and why is runs the ghost platoon because it was mentioned in previous books so saying it again - more than once in the book starts to feel like word count inflation. Despite this, as I said, I am still enjoying the series as there an always several encounters per book - I particularly enjoyed the kidnapping of Jolie one.
