About this listen
Geneva, 2012. When a Russian intelligence officer approaches MI5 with vital information about the imminent cyber-sabotage of an Anglo-American Defence programme, he refuses to talk to anyone but Liz Carlyle. But who is he, and what is his connection to the British agent?
At a tracking station in Nevada, US Navy officers watch in horror as one of their unmanned drones plummets out of the sky. Is this a Russian plot to disable the West’s defences? Or is the threat coming from elsewhere? Liz and her team hunt for a mole inside the MOD in a race against time to stop the Cold War heating up once again...

A tolerable read
This is my first book by Stella Rimington, and it didn't really live up to my expectations. I quite liked the main characters, but the action and the plot were rather mundane. Idon't think that I would bother to buy another by this author.

Another spy story
Clearly written by an authority though I found the denouement a bit far fetched. Difficult to put it down, though - I'll listen again.

A great listen
I read some of the other Poor reviews and have to say I don’t entirely agree with the comments. The way the narrator is portrayed by some is as if she has asthma and a 1970s comedian approach to accidents. I find these comments erroneous.
This Liz Carlisle story had a more gripping plot and while some of the twists were a little predictable the book was still well written. I listen To books While I am detailing cars. This actual book took my mind off a couple of days of mundane polishing and thanks to Liz Carlisle this car now looks amazing!

Good overall
Reasonably good apart from the seemingly unrealistic and unnecessary kidnap at the end. Stereotypes abound, but overall ok

Best yet in the series
Resonates a ‘sixties’ Cold War atmosphere. Fast pace plots with believable locations and excellent narration
