Critic reviews

Britain’s female Stephen King returns with a sparkling, yet terrifying, story of a colony of vampires . . . this a brilliant high-concept thriller
C.J. Tudor is getting better and bolder with every novel, and the bar was pretty high to start with. THE GATHERING is an incredibly exciting novel, tightly plotted and brilliantly tense, with an atmosphere you could eat with a spoon (STUART TURTON)
The author is the British queen of horror and, now, vampires
A crime thriller with a vampiric twist. What a cracking read and such assured writing. She just gets better and better! (SARAH PINBOROUGH)
CJ Tudor is a genius. The Gathering kept me on the edge of my seat to the very last page. A tour de force! (AVA GLASS)
Tensely told
Tudor slays with this brilliantly imaginative take on the vampire genre. This genre is tailor made for her. It's as if it’s her own invention. There's nothing she can't turn her hand to. Fangbloodytastic (JOHN MARRS)
My first vampire book but it definitely won't be my last! Really enjoyed The Gathering, a chilling and claustrophobic story set in the snowy wilderness of Alaska (B.A. PARIS)
So menacing and claustrophobic. Ice cold and darkly bloody. I loved it. Bravo, C.J. Tudor, you are the Queen of Horror (LOUISE SWANSON)
A peerless blend of thriller and horror, with darkness and danger pouring from every page. Cuts right to the heart of the evil some are capable of, and the consequences that come crashing down. Powered through it in twenty-four hours (ROBERT RUTHERFORD)

It's not that I mind storylines about vampires, that part of the experience was interesting. The problem for me was the host of characters and how they kept popping in and out of the story, some 'goodies' and some not so good.
If this had been a book I probably would've given up after having to keep turning back pages. I have used the replay button many times, but I got to the end.
Don't let my review put you off though. The story may work for you.

I found this a slog the narration and the story dragged. I wasn’t invested in any of the characters.

Dragged too much
