I Absolutely Loved This Book
Well I'm 58 and I absolutely loved this book. A beautiful story, so well told and fabulously narrated by Lucy Scott, I just love her voice, beautiful to listen to. I loved the character of Clara, what she endured and how she looked out for Will. So heartwarming , I shed a tear at the end. I listened to the story over two days and I enjoyed so much, it had my attention right until the end! I think older children and adults can listen to this and enjoy it so much. Pure escapism!

Quaint and unusual
You get lost in the world and time of this book. From Clara's imaginative and creative childhood thoughts comes this story woven within wartime and its horrors and then the gentle but busy life living on an estate in the countryside. And the thread of mystery running through, of who was stealing the Earls hot house fruit. you see all rhe emotions of Clara and also of those around her. An intriguing read for young and old alike.

Atmospheric and captivating
This is a fabulous, dark, war-time mystery full of intrigue, peril and pineapples! The narrator is brilliant and really draws you into the story. I loved the setting, characters and plot. It reminded me of The Secret Garden, just with more pineapples!
