About this listen

Only Omega can free humanity.

When the Ornu came, they took Earth in a single night. Humanity never stood a chance. Now, they force us to crew their ships and fight their wars for them. They hold Earth hostage, and if we refuse to do their bidding, they’ll lay waste to our precious blue marble. Slaughtering the billions who live there.

But when Captain Bill Henderson is sent to claim a small moon for his masters, he finds something they never accounted for. An ancient warship – a behemoth abandoned for millennia by a species that reached its peak at the dawn of the universe.

Could this ship of ages be exactly what humanity needs to cast off the shackles of their oppressors? Find out in Book 1 of Starship Omega, an engrossing new military sci fi saga from bestselling authors Scott Bartlett and Joshua James.

Great Read

I was recommended this book by someone who's name rhymes with Spot Splartleck and having read and enjoyed quite a few of Scott's other books I was glad to give it a listen.

I am a fan of the Space Opera genre and this book fits firmly into that bracket so if you're a fan too you can't gonfar wrong with this. It took a bit of time to get familiar with the large cast, rather than being read from the point of view of one character it swaps about between quite a few each chapter and tells that part of the story from their point of view.

I knew nothing of the plot before picking it up but after a couple of hours I kind of hoped I knew where things were going and I wasn't wrong.

The only criticism of the book is that I thought I had a good 3+ hours of storyeft when it ended... And a prequel is included that gives some background to the characters.

Now I've got to wait for the second installment of the series!

Narration by Mark Boyett again top class, he's one of my favourites, the accent full of sssss that he does in this book is particularly creepy, which means he's doing a good job!

A great listen

Good narration and a good story. A science fiction setting where the humans are colonised by another race.

I’m looking forward to the next book!

Great book, thoroughly enjoyed it.

I will start with the frustration - why the hell put a prequel in the last 4 hrs?? people like reading/listening in order.... I'd have much preferred the prequel was first, followed by the main content. I am considering whether to even listen to the prequel.

the main audio book was very well written and narrated. the characters were gradually built up and there was twists and turns that were a pleasant surprise. I will purchase the next in the series if it is long enough, but I will view the chapters first to ensure I can listen in order.

Good Military Sci Fi story

As well as the main story, also included is an extra prequel story and side story.

The book was a good start to what will hopefully be a long series of stories about mankind overcoming their enslavement at the hands of a cruel alien overlords. With the help of an Ancient AI controlled spaceship.

You will love it

The world pictured in the book has a genuine feeling of menace and of human life being next to worthless. Reminded me of books set in occupied Europe during ww2. Very well done with characters you can "feel".
The human crew of a starship, under oppressive alien occupation, encounter a miracle. An ancient sentient ship who offers it's help. But at what cost.

Another captivating series!

Buckle up, space cadets! "The Forever Ship" by Scott Bartlett and Joshua James is a stellar addition to the sci-fi universe, and it's no surprise that this book has truly rocketed to the top of my favorites list. If you’re ready for a ride that’s out of this world, this book will take you on an interstellar adventure that’s more thrilling than a supernova.

Scott Bartlett, with his signature cosmic energy and passion, has once again proven why he's one of the brightest stars in the sci-fi constellation. His writing in "The Forever Ship" captures the same electrifying essence that fans have come to expect from his previous works. This novel isn’t just a book; it’s a warp-speed journey through a universe filled with intriguing characters and breathtaking action. Whether you're a veteran Bartlett fan or a newbie to his galaxy, this book is a fantastic introduction to a new series that’s bound to become a classic. I’m already counting down the light-years until the next installment.

And speaking of stars, let’s talk about Mark Boyett, the voice that truly brings this story to life. Boyett is the undisputed captain of sci-fi audiobooks, and his performance here is nothing short of stellar. From his work on "Expeditionary Force" to "The Ember War," Boyett has always been the voice that launches a thousand ships. In "The Forever Ship," he delivers a performance that’s as smooth as a zero-gravity glide and as powerful as a photon blast. Boyett’s narration ensures that every character, every twist, and every moment of suspense hits harder than a meteor shower.

Scott Bartlett, Joshua James, and Mark Boyett make a cosmic team that’s unbeatable. Their collaboration in "The Forever Ship" is a supernova of storytelling, one that promises to light up the sci-fi skies for a long time to come. So, if you’re ready for an adventure that’s light-years ahead of the competition, this is the book for you. Prepare for launch, and enjoy the voyage!

Hooked

When I chose this book to listen to, as usual I hoped for a good listen, it turns out it was more than I expected, not finished it yet, but I am hooked and not long to the finish, when the next book is available, I will purchase and continue the vision being portrayed, so far very enjoyable, and as usual I will relisten after a month of finishing, that will be the real test, I have quite a few books, but only a few that make it to the list of re listen go to books, so I will post again when I have read book 2.

very good so far.

Layout

This book includes a prequel a short story and some explanation of the vessels. It would’ve been more useful to listen to this first before listening to the main body of the book.
