Summary

A Betrayed Archaeologist. A Ghost from the Past. A Dozen Worthy Sacrifices.

Expedition leader Hiram Kane is holed up in his native England recovering from wounds both physical and mental, when his family receives a mysterious anonymous letter that dredges up nightmares from the past. Could it also offer a ray of unexpected hope?

Across the globe beneath a forgotten Aztec pyramid, a disillusioned archaeology professor is about to unleash his wrath.

How? Brutally murdering a dozen innocent victims in an ancient sacrificial ritual.

When the modern and ancient worlds collide and the unhinged professor starts committing unimaginable blood-spilling atrocities on the adolescent virgins, Kane is forced to make an impossible choice.

Can he sacrifice the love of his life to save the innocent girls?

'Gripping Read/ Listen'

Have just spent the Easter holiday afternoons in lock-down relaxing and listening to the Feathered Serpent. It was the first time I had actually listened to a Hiram Kane adventure, having previously read the other ones. It was very well read indeed by Kenneth Bryant, however, having read the others books, I had formed my own idea of how Hiram would sound, and of course he sounded completely different (better spoken) but I soon got used to it. The story was well thought out, the descriptions of the places in Mexico were excellent. Also it was good how we learnt about some of the characters hang ups and how their lives had been taken on certain paths because of their sometimes misconception of how others thought of them. I was so glad that Hiram was finally reunited with his brother Danny, the mystery of his disappearance having being a theme running through all the other books. A good read/listen throughout, it kept me interested all the way, and to the very last wondering how Hiram Kane was going to survive this one!

Baskerville Book Reviews

This is arguably the best book in this series so far. It’s longer than books 1 and 2, which allows for more setup and world-building. Unlike books 3 and 5, the setup doesn’t crawl along at a snail’s pace. It’s exciting and intense. The characters are in real, believable danger. There’s finally some character development. It’s everything the other books weren’t.

The narrator as always does an incredible job with narrating and accents. I’ll bring this up again because it’s no less annoying; I can’t stand how he does different accents for Hiram Kane’s internal Voice and his speaking voice. If he can do the accent, then he should do it for both so it’s less jarring when Hiram Kane speaks in a different accent than you hear for most of the novel.

Yet another brilliant book by Steve and Kenneth

I have been a fan of Steven since i first read the samurai code a couple of years ago. This is book 5 and I personally think it is the best one to date.

This book involves hiram travelling to mexico to meet a long thought dead relative, and ends up with him being caught up in a dangerous adventure involving a man who has kidnapped some young children and is threatening to kill them.

Hiram then has to spend the reat of the book trying to save the children with his new team.

The action starts. the beginning and doesn't let up until the very last page and, as I know how Steve works, I really wasn't sure who would survive the adventure.

Overall a brilliant book, which i would suggest everyone buy.

Yet again Kenneth has done a brilliant job of narrating the book getting all the very tricky pronunciations correct and the way he tells the story could almost make you think you are there yourself. If i had someone narrate my life story I would choose Kenneth as he would be guaranteed to make it sound a lot more interesting than it actually is.

definitely listen or read

I really enjoyed this story. Well written characters, and well paced. The secondary characters still had enough in them to make the twists and turns believable. It also built up on past experiences of the characters so it gets you wanting to read the books prior if like me you haven't read them before this. And I liked that. I will definitely be following this authors work from now on. We'll worth the time and effort
