About this listen

Not many people in the medical world are talking about how being afraid can make us sick - but the truth is that fear, left untreated, becomes a serious risk factor for conditions from heart disease to diabetes to cancer. Now Lissa Rankin, M.D., explains why we need to heal ourselves from the fear that puts our health at risk and robs our lives of joy - and tells us how fear can ultimately cure us by opening our eyes to all that needs healing in our lives.

Drawing on peer-reviewed studies and powerful true stories, The Fear Cure presents a breakthrough understanding of fear's effects and charts a path back to wellness on every level. We learn:

  • How a fearful thought translates into physiological changes that predispose us to illness
  • How to tell true fear from false fear
  • How to reshape our relationship to uncertainty
  • What our fears can teach us about who we really are

Using exercises from a wide range of mind-body practices and spiritual traditions, Dr. Rankin teaches us how to map our own courage-cultivating journey, write a personalized Prescription for Courage, and step into a more authentic life.

Narrating not good

Read to fast - feels stressful to listen to! A shame, no time to digest what’s being said just feels rushed.

Inspirational

If you could sum up The Fear Cure in three words, what would they be?

Inspirational. Motivating. Amazing.

Who was your favorite character and why?

N/A

Have you listened to any of Jenn Morris’s other performances? How does this one compare?

I have not listened to Jenn Morris before but she does a fantastic job here voicing Lissa Rankin's words. I have heard Lissa Rankin narrate and I was disappointed that she didn't narrate her own book this time. However I do feel that Jenn Morris matches Lissa's reassuring, empathetic tone.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

I was inspired and motivated through out this amazing book. If you suffer from any kind of illness or are just feeling stuck in your life I would highly recommend Lissa's book. I think it is far better than her first book 'Mind Over Medicine'. It brings together lots of ideas in a really accessible way. It will definitely be a 'self help' book that I follow through on and return to.

Any additional comments?

One of my all time favourite self help books. Highly recommended
