About this listen
Based on rigorous historical research and forensic contemporary journalism that leads him frequently into war-torn states and bloody conflict zones, Oborne explains the myths, fabrications and downright lies that have contributed to this pernicious state of affairs. He shows how various falsehoods run deep, reaching back as far as the birth of Islam, and have then been repurposed for the modern day. Many in senior positions in governments across the West have suggested that Islam is trying to overturn our liberal values and even that certain Muslims are conspiring to take over the state, while Douglas Murray claims in his new book that we face a 'War on the West'. But in reality, these fears merely echo past debates, as we continue to repeat the pattern of seemingly wilful ignorance.
With murderous attacks on Muslims taking place from Bosnia in 1995 to China today, Oborne dismantles the falsehoods that lie behind them, and he opens the way to a clearer and more truthful mutual understanding that will benefit us all in the long run.

An Eye Opener
I found this book extremely (not extremist) educational. It has added to my knowledge of this subject, which has been made complex by groups you wouldn’t expect. Unfortunately on reading you begin to loose faith in the Britain and politicians you thought you knew

A great read! Well researched!
The only thing I’d say is Islam is a religion and not a culture. Writers need to make this distinction more clear.

I simply cannot recommend this book highly enough
It's an absolute must for anyone who ever thought negatively about Islam or Muslims. The depth of reporting. The deconstruction and investigation into such aspects as "Muslim grooming gangs" and Birmingham schools "Trojan horse" are simply mind blowing. The lengths some people, states and organisations are going to, in order to destroy Islam is unbelievable, and can only make me conclude there's something about Islam they fear. A religion that has been so battered over decades is still the fast growing religion. Muslim's have not abandoned their religion like others. People are converting to Islam. There's something these shadowy characters fear, and now I'm interested to find out what it is. The author has done an outstanding job.

Exceptionally Revealing and informative
I have read and listened to so many books, but a book so detailed, well researched and accurate is very rare to find. I couldn't recommend this book enough, whatever you do, please take time out of your busy schedule to read this book to educate and inform yourself.

Excellent
Excellent in-depth analysis to counterbalance the likes of Douglas Murray's Strange Death of Europe and other books on the same subject.

Interesting read. A deep look at the hypocrisy of western governments towards Islam
A really interesting listen on the hypocrisy of the west towards Islam. Particular focus on governments and the media. Covers the US, France and the U.K. and I’d consider it an intro rather than a deep dive, but I found it very interesting and wanting to read more

A must read
Wow! An insightful, thought provoking work by a reputable author. However, it is depressing how the state so easily manipulated public opinion along with their client journalists.

A book of integrity
This work shines a light on how easily the general public can be influenced or manipulated. People think this is confined to history, but it is still ongoing. The dehumanisation of groups for individual or political gain is appalling and this book offers a fact based alternative to what has been reported over the past twenty years. It is clearly well researched and Peter Oborne, having been part of the media and having had close connections to those in power is well qualified to tell this story. It is told with in-depth knowledge, experience and substance. Well done for speaking against the official narrative. A must read book in the current geopolitical climate and for generations into the future.
