About this listen

From best-selling novelist Wilbur Smith, The Eye of the Tiger is an exciting adventure set amongst the peaceful islands of the Indian Ocean, where a man's past returns to hunt him down.

'I was looking down, watching the shark come. It seemed to swell up in size as it rushed towards me. Every detail was burned into my mind in those frantic seconds. I saw the hog's snout with the two slotted nostrils, the golden eyes with the black pupils like arrowheads, the broad blue back from which stood the tall executioner's blade of the dorsal fin.'

Harry Fletcher, a man with a chequered past, has reformed and is making an honest living as a charter skipper fishing for big game in the seductive waters of the Indian Ocean. Suddenly men from the world of violence Harry has put behind him overturn his good intentions, involving him in a hectic race to recover a fabulous treasure from an ancient wreck.

The descriptions of what the main character saw.

The storyline keeps you engaged. The characters were believable. The narrator was outstanding in the way he changed his voice for the different characters.

Another great adventure

Took a little while to get into this one but it was still awesome. The narration was good and the narrator necessary for some of the characters but my word his voice is deep! My speakers were struggling :)

Brilliant adventure story

Classic adventure story including gold treasure, treacherous men and women and love. What more could you want. Wilbur Smith at his best and narrated in a lovely way by Ben Onwukwe. Highly recommended.

strong story line, full of treasure

another great story from WilberSmith. A good treasure hunt, but quite outdated attitudes to women. As long as you remember it's a book of its time, it's a very enjoyable read. Narrator is strong, but timbre of his voice is low and slow. Would be better if he picked up the pace and the excitement in the story gathered.

Love a good Wilbur Smith book!

Another cracking tale by WS. I’ve read many of his books, and he never disappoints. Well narrated by Ben Onwukwe. He got the characters well!

A great Wilbur smith story

I’ve read a lot of Wilbur’s books and listened to several on audible. This is probably the best so far.

Good story, lumpy narration

I like this story but the narrator had very little flow which made for an awkward listen. He added extra full stops to every sentence and kept getting lost in the accents of the characters. Pity.
