Yes - mostly for US Banks but what an insight!
A reference tome for those who need to know what’s what I’m banking risk management but a credit well spent to provide insight into this world of CDOs, and too many other TLAs and ETLAs to mention
I’ve a good background in risk management in the cyber arena and found some very interesting crossovers which should be considered by any CISO or CIO to help mitigate or hedge risks in the tech world.
Ok, I am an auti and a techie but I found this book so compelling I almost can’t wait for the next edition - though that may be some years away. The effortless way Michael Butler Murray handles narrating such a complex work with only one or two minor snafus is award-worthy - it must have taken an age to read.
The authors here have literally written the book on US Financial risk management - and covered it in a way that I think many who would be interested will be able to understand to a reasonable degree - though I can’t say I followed all of the calculations that were cited as examples or all of the tools/toys that bankers use to keep the financial world moving - but I certainly learned a heck of a lot and do wonder what the financial wizards will come up with next
The amount of money involved in some of the tools discussed is truly mind bending - there do seem to be too many fingers in too many pies to really make sense - but the character Will Emerson in the movie Margin Call sums it up well, “… The only reason that they all get to continue living like kings is because we got our fingers on the scales in their favor. I take my hand off and then the whole world gets really flippin' fair really flippin' quickly and nobody actually wants that. “
