About this listen

This strange but true story begins with a prisoner's escape from Campo 303 in Pravia, Northern Italy.

Despite being unable to speak Italian, he begins a nearly 2000-mile journey to the safety of the Allied Forces surrounded by hostile forces in his disguise as a Benedictine monk.

Truly remarkable for its courage and daring in a war-scarred world.

The Escaping Habit

An interesting true book based on one mans escape from a Italian P.O.W camp, dressed as a monk, during the second world war. The author shares some of his experiences and the kindness of different people he meets. This is one book that I enjoy listening to a couple of times a year. The only down side is the narrators voice which I find takes a few minutes to get used to.
