About this listen

The haunting new novel from the author of 2014's stunning Richard and Judy Book Club best seller Daughter.

Emma and Adam are doctors at the top of their fields, and so when they are offered the chance to take their three children to Africa for a year for a research placement it seems like the opportunity of a lifetime. It's going to be an experience they'll never forget. But for all the wrong reasons.

When Emma arrives home one night to the sickening sight of an empty cot, their family's dream adventure turns into their worst nightmare. Thousands of miles from home and from anyone who can help, they must discover the truth. Is this a random abduction, a tragic accident, or something far more sinister?

An amazing book. Have not read one so gripping I n a long time!

His was an amazing book, well written, well red and very gripping. You are there with the protagonist; the suspicions are yours too. The narration is first class too. Highly recommend the book and the author too

This book is full of interest from start to finish. The medical and Africa interests are well written. I loved this book and the narrator.

Depressing and far fetched

As a working mum this made me feel rather guilt ridden. The ending was really far fetched. Depressing and dysfunctional.

A nice change

It was good to hear a story that was set (mostly) in another country; I learnt so much and the story was gripping to the end!
