Summary
From acclaimed author Dr. Jason Fung, a revolutionary guide to reversing diabetes.
Dr. Jason Fung forever changed the way we think about obesity with his best-selling book, The Obesity Code. Now he has set out to do the same for type 2 diabetes.
Today, most doctors, dietitians, and even diabetes specialists consider type 2 diabetes to be a chronic and progressive disease - a life sentence with no possibility of parole. But the truth, as Dr. Fung reveals in this paradigm-shifting book, is that type 2 diabetes is reversible. Writing with clear, persuasive language, he explains why conventional treatments that rely on insulin or other blood-glucose-lowering drugs can actually exacerbate the problem, leading to significant weight gain and even heart disease. The only way to treat type 2 diabetes effectively, he argues, is proper dieting and intermittent fasting - not medication.

Diabetes epidemic- a need to re-educate
Such a good read! I work with people with sight loss. Many have lost their vision through the impact of diabetes. For years I have assumed that the primary treatment is insulin. This book explains brilliantly the whys and how’s in reducing the impact of diabetes and furthermore and most importantly how to reverse and even eradicate this disease. Interesting read and a highly valuable investment.

Using knowledge as a weapon.
When I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes about two and a half years ago, I had no symptoms and was told nothing about it other than it was progressive, probably leading to problems with my feet, cause blindness and accelerating the likelihood of heart attack and strokes. Nothing at all about why it had occurred or how to treat it ( other than to stop eating fruit and take the medicine ). I moderated my fruit intake and refused the tablets.
At last I now know something more about the illness, thanks to this book, and have a regime to work with to get rid of it - if it's still with me, or course. Dr.Fung's narration is clearly modulated, easy to both hear and understand, although the quality of the recording itself varies: the sound levels fluctuating at times, which is slightly distracting. There are a associated charts and written information accompanying the audio in off form accessible through the Audible library.
A Recommended read to everyone but especially those struggling to avoid being just another medical statistic. Diabetes is not simply a downward slide to increasing medication as the body self destructs. It is reversible, and this book will help to assist success.

Scariest book ever.
This is for anyone with T2D, who is overweight. It will scare the life out of you. In a good way. I was static for weight loss for about three weeks, trust me when I say I’m back on it.

Diabetes Code
Diabetes is caused by too much sugar and refined carbs. Excess consumption of fructose can be worse than sugar.
If you have been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, a doctor may prescribe insulin injections or a medication called Metformin to lower blood glucose. But these drugs don't get rid of excess glucose, instead they take the glucose out of the blood where you can see it and into the body where you can not. Then gets shipped out to other organs such as the kidneys, nerves, eyes and the heart when it can eventually create other problems. The underlying problem is unchanged. Insulin has just been removed from the blood into the body.
Metformin helps manage glucose, but does not eliminate diabetes. Metformin may manage the disease for a while but eventually the patient may require higher and higher dose of medication.
You should maintain a moderate but not high intake of protein. When it is digested dietary protein such as meat breaks down into amino acids. Adequate protein is required for good health but excess amino acid cannot be stored in the body so the liver converts them into glucose. Therefore eating too much protein adds sugar to the body. Natural fats such as avocado, nuts and olive oil are major components of the Mediterranean diet. They have a minimal effect on glucose or insulin and are well known for having a healthy effect on heart disease and diabetes.

Breakthrough for people with type two diabetes
This has been an incredible audiobook by Dr Jason Fung. He fully explains the real mechanics of Type Two Diabetes particular insulin resistance. The way he explains how to use fasting as a method for reversing into the resistance is profound, yet simple to reply. Recommend this book strongly for anyone with resistance or Type Two Diabetes
