Summary
A little fraternising with the enemy never hurt anybody . . . The Devils series is a sexy blend of spice, romance and grumpy men. Prepare to laugh, swoon and cry . . . perfect for fans of Christina Lauren and The Hating Game.
___
It's all fun and games until your work nemesis tells you to beg.
There's a devil on my shoulder, and every Monday morning she announces herself. She's this delicious flame in my chest, a flurry of whispered suggestions in my ear. Suggestions I ignore...because every single one of them is about Ben Tate.
Ben-Stealer of Clients, Evicter of Homeless Women, Nemesis. Sitting across from me every damn Monday with his lovely, smug smile and his too-perfect teeth, the living symbol of everything I hate.
It's been my policy to avoid him, but when a case comes into the firm-one that could change his career and mine-I make an exception. It means weekends and evenings by his side. It means enduring his smirk and his smart mouth and never taking the bait.
Until the night Ben says, "Beg" . . .
And that devil on my shoulder decides to make a few demands of her own.

Gemma is a queen
I will forever say that this series has some of the best banter I’ve ever read, but I think this one is the best of the bunch!🤩
Gemma is a ruthless, no nonsense lawyer, determined to make her way to the top, join the boys club, and show that women have the same right to be there are the men. She’s on her way there, and when a case comes to the firm that could help catapult her to partnership, she jumps at the chance to work on it. Only problem is, she has to work with Ben Tate, her deviously handsome nemesis.
The banter is this book!??! UNMATCHED. I had to stop listening to this in public because I would just cackle every 2 minutes. The quips between Ben and Gemma, her inner monologues, the running joke about hallmark movies and their seemingly perfect men. Hilarious, one of the funniest books I read last year.
Gemma and Ben are perfectly matched for each other. From the first scenes filled with passive aggressive comments, to the tension filled nights working together, to the explosive chemistry when they finally give in to their attraction. They both excel at their jobs, but sort of such at everything else 😂 Gemma took longer to come round to her feelings than Ben (he was a simp for her since the beginning😉) but his steadfast desire to prove he was better for Gemma than any smalltown farmer could ever be won her over 🥰
I do miss a dual pov when there isn’t one, but I think it worked in this book as it was just as much about the romance as it was about women being unapologetically themselves and not having to change to fit the mould of what a man wants you to be. Gemma was ruthless but caring, fierce but vulnerable, selfish but selfless. She perfectly embodied the insecurities women face everyday about being ‘too much’ or ‘not doing enough’. So much of her thoughts and actions were relatable and I truthfully never missed not having Ben’s pov. Gemma and Ben are memorable, but Gemma is an all time favourite FMC 👸🏻

What the actual hell?
I am telling you if a man - especially a man with which I have barely any relationship -redecorated his whole house based on my Pinterest preferences, changes jobs to be closer to me, went way out of his way to ensure my professional success and shovelled the snow away from mother's doorway without previously being acquainted to her I WOULD BE RUNNING FOR THE HILLS. I would NOT be marrying him. Ok love makes you crazy, but does love make you a creepy stalker?
Being hot and sexy doesn't make up for waving every red flag under the sun. Jesus.
