About this listen
This highly influential work - now in a revised and expanded third edition incorporating major advances in the field - gives clinicians, educators, and students a new understanding of what the mind is, how it grows, and how to promote healthy development and resilience.
Daniel J. Siegel synthesizes cutting-edge research from multiple disciplines, revealing the ways in which neural processes are fundamentally shaped by interpersonal relationships throughout life. And even when early experiences are not optimal, building deeper connections to other people and to one's own internal experience remains a powerful resource for growth. Professors praise the book’s utility in courses from developmental psychology and child development to neuroscience and counseling.

- Revisits and refines the core hypotheses of interpersonal neurobiology.
- Chapter on the experience of belonging and the development of identity.
- New or expanded discussions of behavioral epigenetics, the default mode network of the brain, social neuroscience, cultural and gender issues, theory of mind, the Wheel of Awareness contemplative practice, the science of consciousness, and more.

One of the greatest bio/psychology books ever
Simply sublime, its lengthy but don't let that put you off. If you are into the biological-psychological-social interaction of the brain and its environment(s) (internal and external) and it's subsequent expression and subjective experience (mind) this is for you.
Honestly anyone with a remote interest in biology or psychology (biopsychology) or even sociology should read this book at some point in their educational journey. Good listenning everyone!
After listening to the audiobook I will definitely pick up a digital e-book copy for note taking and bookmarking key points... .There is a VAST amount of interesting and key insights in this book!

Navigating the Depths of the Mind
After listening to both “The Developing Mind” and “Mind” by Dan Siegel, I must say that I enjoyed the former a bit more, due to the autobiographical sections and because it is narrated by Siegel himself. The narration in "The Developing Mind" is impeccable, but there is something special about hearing an author taking the time to record their own work.
While listening to the “The Developing Mind” I felt that the repetition of concepts across both audiobooks was very noticeable. That said, it wasn’t a significant issue for me, as revisiting some of the denser ideas only enhanced my understanding.
If you're new to the insights Siegel has to offer about the workings of the mind, this audiobook will be of enormous value. But I can't deny a personal preference for 'Mind'.
