About this listen

A notorious enchanter and his magically inept employee must battle an ancient demonic king in the second book of this funny and fast-paced fantasy series.

Ever since Bryce Alexander and the infamous dark sorcerer Zambrano saved Earth by launching the demon duke Vulkatherak into the sun, things have been quiet. Zambrano is off doing whatever it is dark sorcerers do for fun, and Bryce has been taking advantage of the perks that come from supposedly evil internships, including free gym access and unlimited takeout. But when Zambrano reappears with a mission to infiltrate the vault of legendary magician Merlin, things start to go awry.

First, they get double-crossed by a fishy demon out for revenge. Next, their former frenemy Seraphex—a demon queen currently trapped in the form of a duck—emerges to "help" them save the world, again. Then, they discover her ex, the demon king Rexhalarkhart, is about to escape from an ancient time trap created by Merlin himself. Rexhalarkhart wants to seize control of the globe using the evilest force known to mankind: politics.

Now, Bryce, Zambrano, and Seraphex must once again put aside their magical, philosophical, and generational differences to prevent the apocalypse—and fast. Because Seraphex's former husband will be back to raise hell in less than three weeks . . .

A perfect blend of quippy dialogue, enchanting lore, and irresistible characters, The Dark Sorcerer's Assistant is the brilliant continuation of a truly original contemporary fantasy series.
