About this listen
Poe's just hanging around on a Saturday afternoon....
Dangling from a hook in a meat packing plant isn't how Detective Sergeant Washington Poe wants to spend his weekend. He's been punched and kicked and threatened, and when a contract killer arrives, it seems things are about to go from bad to worse. He goes by the name of the Pale Man, and he and his straight-edged razor have been feared all over London for 20 years.
But Poe knows two things the Pale Man doesn't. Although it might seem like a hopeless situation, Poe has planned to be here all along. More importantly, a nerdy computer whizz-kid called Tilly Bradshaw is watching his back. And now things are about to get interesting....

Dissappointing
The underlying storyline works well but I found M.W. Craven's need to continuously tie the dialogue to the relevant character by name both irritating and totally unnecessary in view of John Bank's excellent narration.

Not the Strongest
I have read & listened to quite a few M W Craven books, however this was the weakest one so far. I’m sorry to say that the narration was not the best and the storyline was rather contrived and unrealistic.

Not his best
Not sure if it’s just this book but the story feels watered down and basic. Previous Washington Poe story’s have always been gripping. It might be because its a short book and had to be condensed but I found the dialogue very unimaginative and dull.

Short yarn
Really liked previous mw craven books, this one is much less sophisticated. As usual, enjoyable - a story cut mercifully short!

Poe try in motion
Cliché but true, a lot of plot in a short story with the usual Poe & Tilly interactions, would have like more but The Botanist will be here soon enough, yet again John Banks narration is in a class of its own

Excellent short story
A lot is packed into this short story, loved every second and I very rarely buy short stories as I usually feel conned, however, this one is well worth it.

Not worth a credit
I used a credit on this book as it was shown on Audible to be the next in the series and I've listened in order to the previous Washington Poe books. I was surprised that it was so short, so flimsy and so unlike any of the ones that have preceded it. Very disappointed.
